Me....
In the real world, my name's Nathan, I live in a little bordom stricken town in Pennsylvania. Ive lead a rather uneventful life.
In the online world however, I've been a little more interesting.. I've gone by a few names over the years. First was Venom. Named after the Comic Book character. That was mainly on a local BBS called Cyberspace 7, that name stuck with me until sometime in 1997 or so. Around then, I assumed the name War. As in, the first of the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse. A few friends and I (4 of us, immagine that) were slightly musically inclined. Ok, realistically, we sucked, but that didnt stop us, we were going to start a band under the name "The 4 Horsemen". That didnt last long, but the names stuck. War, Fammine, Pestilence, Death, we each had our own name in the group. We even ended up in the year book as "The 4 Horsemen". Pretty famous in a adolescent world. That name stuck with me for a while, it wasnt until about 2001 that I came up with the name "Gangrif" and thats what im currently using. I kinda like it. When I started using Venom, it wasnt common, then it became common, then War was origional, and it became common, but Gangrif, i havent seen anyone thieving my handle yet. I still use Venom, for BBSing, War is still used on occasion, and Gangrif is more or less an RPG, or DnD name.
In case you havent guessed from the title of this site, I'm a geek. Theres no two ways about it. It's genetic. My father was a geek, in his generation the Geeks were Electrical guys. He's got an Electrical Engineering degree from Penn State University. He's a phone guy though, he's the General Manager of a local Telephone Company. He worked his was up from a pole climber though. Me, I'm the phone man of the age. PC communication fascinates me, so I do PC networking. Currently, I'm working for Accu-Find Internet Services, a web hosting and internet access company in Northeast PA. I've only worked here for a few months, Assistant Network Admin, fancy title eh? I'm doing what I love to do, manage servers, Unix and Windows. I learn more and more every day. Which is great, that's what I'm all about. I love to learn, especially when I'm learning something that I enjoy! Before Accu-Find I worked for about 7 years at PenTeleData. I started out there in Technical Support, and after 5 years I was promoted to Network Support. We monitored the network, and supported commercial customers with high-end connections. It was a pretty good job, and I'm glad that I was given the opportunity. I learned a lot, and got a lot of experince that I would never have gotten in Technical Support.
Another name I've been known by recently is "YJ Nate". This is the handle I use when visiting Jeep related sites. I have a whole other section on my server dededicated to my Jeep, so i'm not going to go into it here. Its a 1992 YJ, and it's been a hobby of mine for about 4 years.. Anything else you want to know can be found in the other section I mentioned.
Now, this may sound a bit un-expected, given the information you know about me so far, and that god awful picture up there at the top of this page, but I'm Married! In October of 2003 I got married to a nice girl I met in a nearby town. Her name is Jess, and although she won't admit it, she is the most beautiful girl in the world. She thinks she's overweight, but she's not, she thinks she's ugly, but she's not. Sounds like a common woman right? Well she's not common, she's mine and I wouldn't have it any other way. We of course live together now, and bought a house in town about 10-15 min from our home towns. We have two dogs, and are hoping to start a family within the next few years.
